Program Overview
The Master of Science in Agriculture (Horticulture) is a two-year (four semesters) graduate program offered by the Department of Agriculture, School of Science, Kathmandu University . The program is designed to produce highly skilled horticulturists capable of addressing contemporary challenges in fruit, vegetable, and ornamental crop production, as well as post-harvest management.

Required Minimum Educational Qualification:
Must have passed Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B. Sc. Ag.) or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks or a CGPA of 2.0. If an application form is submitted without meeting the qualifications, such application form will be deemed invalid, and the applicant will not be included in the entrance examination.
Application Form and Entrance Examination Fee: Application form is available at the School of Science website: https://sos.ku.edu.np/downloads-628. The total fee for the application form and entrance examination has been set at only NRs. 2000.
Application Submission Period:
Application forms can be submitted online from February 13, 2026, to March 13, 2026, by 12:00 AM (midnight) via the Department’s email: agri_office@ku.edu.np or in person at the Administrative Office, Department of Agriculture, KUIC, Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel.
Admit Card Distribution Date: Admit card will be distributed on the examination day and candidate should come with citizenship or other valid identity card 30 minutes prior to the scheduled entrance examination time.
Entrance Examination Date, Time, and Venue:

Entrance Examination Format (Full Marks: 100)
The entrance exam will be an objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs) test consisting of 100 questions. The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes. The marks distribution is based on the syllabus for Plant Sciences, as adapted from standard university practices.

Publication of Entrance Examination Results and Merit List: March 22, 2026.
Basis for Admission:
The entrance exam score will be given one hundred percent weightage. Based on this, a merit list will be prepared, and the list of selected candidates will be published in order of merit. The passing mark for the entrance exam is set at 50 percent. In case of a tie in scores, the merit list will be published based on the percentage/CGPA of the bachelor's level; if still tied, then based on +2 or equivalent; and if still tied, then based on the grade/percentage in Biology/Chemistry/English/Mathematics subjects of +2, respectively.
While submitting the application form, scanned copies or photocopies of the following documents must be arranged in order and attached.
- Recently taken passport-sized photo
- Nepali citizenship certificate or, in case of foreign students, scanned copy of passport
- Mark Sheet/Grade Sheet and Character Certificate of S.L.C. or S.E.E. or equivalent
- Transcript and Character Certificate of Proficiency Certificate Level or Class 12 or equivalent
- Transcript and Character Certificate of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or equivalent
